Daily Work Makeup

For this busy mama, 4 am comes way too early.  (Let’s be honest, 4 comes and goes..I finally convince my body to roll out of bed around 4:15.)  So it is important that I can slap on my daily work makeup in about 15 minutes so I can scurry out the door.  Yes, that’s right.  I give myself 15 minutes to get ready to head out and be seen in and by the public.

These are the products I use almost every day.  Now, the brand I use honestly depends on just what’s in front of me at the time.  (As you may have guessed, I am not a morning person so at this point I’m like a makeup zombie – just grabbing for products and hoping for the best.)

tips to looking put together

A big part of becoming presentable in a short amount of time is sticking to what you know.  This is not the time to experiment with that new plum lipstick you just bought yesterday.

When picking out products, I find using face palettes help cut out a lot of time spent searching for what you need.  You just grab one palette and bam! several steps are right there in front of you.

Which leads me into my next tip: multi-purpose products.  The great thing about makeup is there are no rules.  I can knock out up to five steps of my routine with this one Tarte palette and no one questions it.  I remember one time in particular, I ran a blush shade through my crease real quick and I received so many compliments that day.  Every person was shocked when I responded with, “Thanks, it’s my blush.”  So don’t be afraid to use that bronzer as an eyebrow shade.  Or that highlight on your lids.

There’s something to be said about keeping it simple.  How about using a tinted lip balm instead of reaching for that liquid lipstick that’s more than likely going to crack throughout the day?  The last thing you need to do is worry about your makeup failing you during your work day.  I have fallen in love with Milk “Kush” lip balm.  It’s something I can put in my pocket or my purse and it gives my lips the moisture and color they need without overkill.

Set it and forget it!  My final tip for y’all.  Make sure you have a holy grail setting spray that works for you.  Especially for those of you, such as myself, that have very little downtime at work to check and make sure you’re keeping it together in the makeup department.  There are days that I don’t look at myself once during an entire shift until I catch a glimpse in the rear-view mirror when the day is done.  Need recommendations?  Morphe has a wonderful option.  Covergirl “Active Outlast All-Day” setting spray is another one I truly love!  Your face ain’t goin’ nowhere with this spray!

Slay the day!

It’s time to get to work!  Always remember, you don’t need makeup.  If you can’t perform your job without it, and you’re not on stage for a living, then maybe it’s time to reconsider positions?  It’s a personal choice.
