During these tough times, I’ll take just about any kind of distraction I can get. And when my April BoxyCharm still showed up in my mailbox, it was just what I needed. I cannot imagine how difficult it is to continue to operate a business such as BoxyCharm and still get the products out in a timely manner. So I just to give a huge thank you to the BoxyCharm team for their continued excellence and for bringing a little happiness into lives when things are so grim.
This month I’m not only going to be able to give you info on the products that I received but I have already gone ahead and tried all products myself at least once. So I’ll be throwing my two cents at you as well.
April BoxyCharm: Festival Vibes
Benefit Cosmetics ∣ The Porefessional Face Primer
Quickly minimize the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. Translucent, oil-free formula complements all skin tones and helps makeup stay put. Contains a vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals.
This is supposedly the number one selling primer in the US. There is no denying it has quite the cult following. Every beauty influencer has mentioned the product at least one time in their career.
The first thing I noticed immediately was the fragrance. It is quite strong. So if you are someone that is sensitive to smells, that is definitely something to keep in mind. I, however, am not one of those people so I carried on. It was soft and smooth with a silicone texture. The smell did quickly dissipate after application so it was not something that was bothersome all day. Overall, after applying, I thought it did do a good job of giving my skin that nice smooth base. It didn’t affect the application of the rest of my makeup. In fact, I thought it looked pretty dang good that day.
Elemis ∣ Superfood Cica Calm Cleansing Foam
Packed with fermented Superfoods and formulated with Micellar Technology, Elemis’ Superfood Cica Calm Foaming Cleanser is a soothing foaming cleanser that easily removes all traces of makeup and impurities, leaving the complexion looking calm, balanced and fresh.
I really enjoyed this product. It had a nice clean smell, nothing overwhelming. I used it after using a gentle cleaner to remove my makeup. It left my skin feeling extra clean and soft. It didn’t feel dry or sticky; just healthy and fresh.
Iconic London ∣ Illuminator
ICONIC LONDON’s concentrated liquid shimmer Illuminator can be added to your foundation, primer or moisturiser, or simply used on its own for a super highlighted glow. Available in multiple shades, it can also be used to contour. Every drop of this super-concentrated shimmer elixir glides on smoothly to bestow ultra-blendable glow.
This was probably the product I was most excited to receive. I’m a sucker for a glow! I have tried these so far in two different ways. The first time I applied it directly to my face, after primer. I placed the drops on all of the high points of my face and blended it out with a brush. Then I applied the rest of my makeup. It gave my skin such a beautiful, subtle glow-from-within look. It was lovely! The second time, I put the drops on top of my foundation, before powder, and tapped it out with my finger. This was much more of an intense highlight look, but still so so beautiful! These definitely remain on my vanity for easy access!
Lavish ∣ 5-Piece Neon Eye Brush Collection
A must-have all-in-one cruelty free makeup brush collection that includes essential eye brushes you’ll need to achieve an every day or more dramatic look.
Now, at first glance, I’m sure everyone is like, “Oh great, more brushes..” However, I was actually really happy to get this set because, not only are they super cute, but the shapes of the bristles are actually unique [at least for my collection] and I will get use out of these. The eyeliner brush is the first one that stuck out to me. It is super fine for those gel liners to get beautiful wings. The bristles are firm enough to remain in control and not flop about, which is the problem I’ve experienced with a similar type of brushes. Also that pencil brush! It is nice a firm and can really blow out that under-lash line like a dream!
The Original Makeup Eraser ∣ Sunset
Erase ALL makeup with JUST water! Including waterproof mascara, eyeliner, foundation, blush and more! Reusable, machine washable, and lasts 3-5 years. Never buy harmful disposable wipes again.
This is the product that I was least excited about upon the initial unboxing. I have a few different washable makeup remover cloths. However, I did give this a try and immediately after removing the cloth from the box, I could tell a huge difference! This was extremely soft. I almost didn’t even want to get it wet. One side has shorter fibers for the removal of makeup and the other side has slightly longer fibers for exfoliating. And I have to admit, it was wonderful! It made taking of my makeup so quick and easy, but it wasn’t rough on my skin compared to the other cloths I have. I’m so glad I didn’t disregard this and gave it a try because it will get used daily!
The April BoxyCharm was pretty simple. The products were staples in a collection for sure but nothing super out of the ordinary. My first initial rating of this box was 3/5. I thought I had plenty of brushes and the Makeup Eraser did not excite me in the slightest.
Now after using the products, I’m giving this box a 5/5! I love everything so much more than I thought I would and will use them on a regular basis. The most surprising thing for me was the Makeup Eraser and how much I actually love using it!
The total value overall of April’s box is $156.99! I paid $25 for all of it. I cannot express to you how much money I save thanks to this subscription box. I can go another month or so without having to buy primer. I don’t remember the last time I bought brushes. And I have tried so many new things that I never would have been able to afford or thought about trying on my own.

Life is hectic. No matter what you do. For me, well, I’m a mom of two young boys living in the countryside, working a full-time job, married to my best friend, and might be slightly makeup obsessed. I’m here to share my experiences, my fears, my dreams, and what little tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way.
